Here is a brief outline of the different stages involved in having a piece of furniture individually designed and made.
- Discussion of your ideas and specific requirements.
- Design sketches prepared for consideration and agreement.
- Materials, finish and final details decided upon.
- Technical construction plans drawn up.
- Furniture made and delivered.
By its nature, the design and production of custom made furniture tends to be a flexible process. You can choose to have more or less involvement at each stage as you wish. It's not generally possible or advisable to design and make furniture in a hurry, but the benefit of this is that you should finish up with exactly the piece of furniture you want and hopefully will have some extra enjoyment of the process along the way.
And the cost ... it's often not as much as you might think and details of design, construction and materials can generally be tailored to fit a particular budget.
On some occasions I may have an item of furniture finished and ready for immediate sale, a sample piece or a standard design for example. Offered at a considerable cost saving over individual commissions, these pieces of furniture will be displayed on the website when they are available.
